California State University Northridge has received a $2.1 million grant from the Southern California Gas Company and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to launch the university's second solar electric system. The 2,800 165-watt solar panels, in concert with the 3,000 existing 75-watt panels, will save the university more than $140,000 per year in energy costs and make it one of the largest solar electric systems at a public university in California.
