If I ever had any doubt that the MSM news is carefully filtered
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 08:27 AM by raccoon
the NBC evening news removed all doubt yesterday (April 20).

They showed a bit about President Hu's visit; showed Hu and Bush on the platform, and showed the protester.

No mention or glimpse of Bush grabbing Hu by his coat sleeve.

I'd never have known about that if not for seeing it here on DU. Thank you to whoever posted the pix about that.

Now, the final icing on the turd cake was, that the media ho reporter, a man with lots of gray hair, said that in China their news didn't show the protester!!! As if China censors their news and the US doesn't.

:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

Helps me to kind of understand why some people are so clueless.

1. Bob Schieffer on CBS said something after their story about
how the Chinese people are not accustomed to seeing their leaders heckled. I had to yell at the TV, "Neither are we!" We'd see a lot more of it if the Bush administration didn't carefully screen their audiences. Even with that, there is quite a bit of protesting going on that our media never shows us.

4. I only learned about Bush's limo getting pelted with eggs in '01

during his inaguration, after watching F9/11.

Never saw any mention of it in the SCLM, including the New York Times. Which I used to read every day.

14. Yup, me too!
I had no idea of the protests, the egg throwing, and I was generally clueless. I watched "CNN" at the time, and TV news and thought I was "well informed" - HA!

2. The Downing Street Memos closed the case on the corporate media for me.
It proved that most media was 100% ready to protect the lies of BushINc. It took a category 5 hurricane to blow back the covers on Bush's reign.

3. I noticed it too.
I did like the part about the announcement that they would now play the Taiwanese anthem though.
