West Pointers speak up / Generals aren't the only ones against the war
http://www.recordonline.com/archive/2006/04/20/news-gbgradsagainstwar-04-20.html

West Point - If defenders of the defense secretary need a scapegoat, here's an idea: Blame West Point.

Of the six retired generals who have called for Donald Rumsfeld to step down, three of them, including the former commander of key forces in Iraq, are products of the U.S. Military Academy.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. John Batiste, who led the 1st Infantry Division in Iraq in 2004-2005, last week joined the growing ranks of former generals calling for Rumsfeld's resignation.

In an interview yesterday, Batiste, now president of Klein Steel Service in Rochester, said the values of honesty and honor instilled in him as a cadet were clearly a factor in his decision.

1. Can you imagine? * is going to speak next month at WP graduation.
Will probably be trying out his reluctance to use nuclear weapons on Iran when there is such a stellar military establishment as exemplified by West Point, but he will have no choice in the matter.

3. thinking about to be banned, even by military
while the old story about leaving thinking to horses and generals is certainly true for an outside observer, the secret is that there are some very smart people in uniform, and that there are probably more smart people in uniform than in the current administration. They even commit the subversive act of thinking as soon as the armory doors are closed (it's kind of like homosexuality in the Catholic church). The administration, realizing the danger of this, e.g. soon the President's favorite props department, the US military, will be announcing via undisclosed sources that they have valid intel indicating that the President is wearing only undergarments, is about to clamp down on all higher brain function amongst the officer corps, and require an oath of Connected and Under Control Cognition (tm) which will require signers to only think thoughts approved by the administration, these thoughts requiring the presence of at least one of the Approved Affective Codewords, including but not limited to Connected, Under Control, Trust, Confident, Firm, Resolve, Natural Law, and Leader. Additionally, all members of the military above the rank of corporal will be required to practice image meditation for an hour each day instead of PT, choosing to visualize an image of either Doober, Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney fucking a sheep with Lynne astride it facing backwards, or Barbara Bush fucking HW with a strapon doggie-style and him yelling "yeah momma, do it like you always do". Privates and corporals will be exempt from this requirement to maintain appropriate class stratification in military society, and to affirm the value of the conflict between the 'natural men' of the 'lower classes' and the 'well-rounded men' of the privileged classes.

4. A repeat of history - "Sir, No Sir" - the GI revolt
http://www.sirnosir.com/home_about_film.html

"In the 1960’s an anti-war movement emerged that altered the course of history. This movement didn’t take place on college campuses, but in barracks and on aircraft carriers. It flourished in army stockades, navy brigs and in the dingy towns that surround military bases. It penetrated elite military colleges like West Point. And it spread throughout the battlefields of Vietnam."
