Grrr. Anyone else have problems with this company? Things arrive late, get "re-routed" wayyyy out of the way.

Use them several times a week.
UPS has been decent, but they've broken a lot of stuff too.

17. Yeah, what's happened to UPS? Everything is smashed upon arrival. |
|
I know that they've been relying on machines to move packages more and more, but the amount of items I receive that are broken or smashed or out of the box is ridiculous. FedEx is a bit better on that.. but many companies are abandoning UPS because they are not handling packages carefully anymore.

I had a screaming match with them a few weeks ago. They claimed my address didn't exist. The assholes attempted to deliver it three times and couldn't find my house. I finally faxed them the MapQuest instructions. I was getting ready to fax them the satellite picture, too.
The delivery was perishable. Frozen mice for my pet snakes. Luckily, the second shipment was still usable when it finally got to me.

And in my job, I have to use overnight mail a lot.
FedEx, in my estimation, is the most reliable. I guess others have other experiences, though.

9. I think it depends on your area, have simlar problems with UPS and USPS? |
|
I know that delivery in our area by all express delivery services sucks because even though it is an MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) with 150,000+ residents and its own officially international airport, it is still classified by all three major carriers (FedEx, UPS and USPS) as a "rural area" so the services suck.

Only had the issue with FedEx. None of the others have ever refused to deliver any packages. They've lost them before but not outright refused to deliver for no stated reason. FedEX did. Don't ask why, I don't know and the idiot who answered their phone didn't either. They just plopped it at some 'pick-up' place in another town. And the town I'm in HAS A FED-EX pick-up station. But that's not where they left it. They plopped it at another one 35 miles away.
Idiots. :wtf:

They outright refused to deliver my packages once. Sent it to a 'FedEx Hub' in another town. I left them there because I didn't have time to drive to another town to pick them up. They were returned to the place where I made my purchase and I was credited. Next time I order from that vendor I will DEMAND that they NOT use FedEx to ship my order because FedEx REFUSED to deliver to my address - which isn't an unusual address in any way nor is it out of the way. NOT that UPS is any better, but this was just UNaccaptable.
So FedEx caused me not to recieve my order and the vendor LOST that sale. Nice eh?

18. I ship a lot of things via FedEx Ground. I only had ONE |
|
problem with them in 5 years, and when I called and asked for an explaination, they appologized ad refunded my shipping costs.
On the other hand...there's USPS! I use Priority Mail for some of my lighter weight items. A week ago, I was contacted by a customer saying she hadn't received her package yet. Since it was sent 14 days ago, I called the PO with the ID#. "What in the world is going on?" I said. "Where was this package for 2 weeks?" Their response was "It must have gotten sidetracked somehow, sorry!" I've had those promised 2-3 day deliver days take 5 to 16 days!!!
If you have a problem with FedEx, they're almost always willing to work with you, and with the millions of packages they handle, I'm sure accidents happen. Call them and ask what they are willing to do for you.

25. Fed Ex really iffy for me. True story - they left a package for me |
|
at my OLD address even though I hadn't lived there in two months, the order was placed from and addressed to my new address. Kicker - the old house was in the process of being demolished and all that was left standing at the time of delivery was the front porch, front door and storm door. Everything - EVERYTHING else was gone or in a huge hole where the storm cellar had been. No roof, no walls, no nuthin' - just a porch and a door. They left it (needing a signature) between the storm door and the front door. Would have never found it if I hadn't been nosing around and checking out what stages the demolition was in the day after delivery.
Took a picture and gave it to my local UPS carrier. He told me later he got a lot of mileage out of ribbing the local Fed Ex guys about it. On the flip side the UPS guy once left a COD package for $7,000.00 at the house while I was at the bank getting the certified check. Came back, found the package and then went looking for the UPS guy along his route to pay him. Now, that's trust.

for running my business out of the house. I have been pleased with them.
just yesterday, I did their online package thing, printed out the label and scheduled pickup...there was a truck at my door in less than 15 minutes. Wow.
It was probably a coincidence, but what a world we live in.

29. Poor service -- International service sucks |
|
I don't recommend FedEx for any International shipping -- they think they are the federal government and apply their own set of rules.
One example of many -- An American Citizen in Australia ordered charts (nautical maps) from an American company (they were the only ones who sold the paper charts). FedEx insisted that all sorts of rules and regs had to be followed.
The individual gave up and had the charts sent by UPS International -- charts arrived promptly and the sailboat owner could continue his trip around the world.
In another case FedEx opened and turned on a computer that had been sent to the states for repair because it was broken (it wouldn't boot up). They demanded to know why the computer didn't work -- and the INS number of the shipping agent in the states (who was a US citizen). The International customer demanded the return of the computer and a different method of shipment was found.
FedEx delivery personnel routinely lies about not being able to deliver because no one was at the office -- they just skipped that location.
