Do Not Call Reminder for Cell Phones
Just a reminder... Starting February 1, 2006, all cell phone numbers
are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to
receive sales calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.... To prevent
this, call the following number from your cell phone:888-382-1222. It is the National DO
NOT CALL list.

It will only take a minute of your time and it blocks your number for
five (5) years.

5. This is not happening . .
http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp

They are only creating an "opt-in" program for a 411 directory for cell phone users.

9. From your link?
You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. FCC regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry, so most telemarketers don’t call consumers on their cell phones without their consent

Should I register my cell?

14. Urban legend or not, your number should be on the DNC list
Companies are no longer being prosecuted for cold-calling cellphones because number portability means that many cellphones now have land phone numbers, and vice versa, and legal problems with call forwarding have muddied the legal waters regarding what kinds of calls are and arent legal. My cell number got onto one of these telemarketing lists about six months ago and I started receiving one or two calls a day from telemarketers. When I protested that they shouldn't be calling cell phones, the standard response was "I'm sorry, our computers say this is a land line." They can't be prosecuted for that.

I put my number on the DNC list and haven't had a cold call in two months.
