I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!
Among the usual verbal blather and drivel with which I do not agree, there are SEVERAL posts that are not the usual bigoted responses from freepers, but the blatant "I DON'T CARE IF I GET TOSSED OFF OF FR" comments.

in all seriousness, has Freepville been tolerant of other views as of late? Did I miss a memo?

By the way, I know some people can't stomach going to FR, but damn it, I think it's IMPORTANT to know what our counterparts say.

Anyway, here's the link and a few choice comments that made me almost fall out of my chair.

***** the word lesbian in header added by poster, because he or she was so disturbed by the fact that the MSLM didn't "warn" him *****

Gosh, you guys are a bunch of swell people....homosexuals now have "emotional and mental disorders" and should be barred from serving as judges? Are you kidding me.
Good grief.

"normal, stable people"....I think that once we figure out what that means, we'll all be for that.
I work with a gentleman who is wonderful at his job, delightful to be around, has a Bush '04 sticker on the back window of his car, is reliable and trustworthy and is the finest employee with whom I have ever had the pleasure of working. He's about as "normal" a person as I have ever met.

And he has been with the same partner (male) for the past 31 years.

They go to church every Sunday morning without fail, with their 2 kids, who they adopted ...a boy and a girl, who are "normal", well-adjusted kids who study hard, have excellent grades and our proud as can be of their parents, who they refer to as "Dad" and "Dad".

He thinks that gay marriage is a non-issue, that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that the gay community has no right to expect society to re-define "marriage" to suit them, especially when the leaders of the gay community behave like "neanderthals" (his word).

They did hold a commitment ceremony, which both sets of parents attended and sat with their grandchildren, of whon they are justifiably very proud.

This is a normal, well-adjusted family where the parents just happen to be gay.

What in Heavens name is "normal"?

this last one is a little back handed, but I guess as long as he's a Republican :)

I wonder how long these posts will last??

I may be naive, but as long as I have been monitoring FR, I have NEVER seen so many posts in support of non-discrimination.

I believe there are good Democrats and good Republicans, just as there are bad counterparts to each. There's more than one Democrat on my "apeshit absurd" list. It just so happens that more Republicans have made it on in the past few years.

I have hopes that more of them will speak out against the discrimination, excess and warmongering that has taken over their party to such an extreme. Many of them want to, I'd wager, but are afraid to do so.

4. Almost alarming, isn't it?
The rollercoaster effect or pendulum theory seems to be alive and well. If the collection efforts on the culture of corruption continue apace, the grand awakening may continue.

5. So some gays are just "good darkies," really
While it is heartening to see a tiny glimmer of rational thought struggle its way out of a homophobe's brain, the "normal" argument is one I find disturbing. Some gays are "normal," acceptable, as long as they know their place.

Well, I guess this is where it starts (for some people, at least). I'm sure there were plenty of people making this argument about Blacks back in the 50s and 60s that came to realize how essentially racist the premise really was, and who managed to evolve.

Here's to evolution. Thank you, Mr. Freeper, for starting to think. I know it hurts at first.

6. Gay Republican = Jewish Nazi
Why anyone (Log Cabin Republicans) would support a party that wants their kind completely annihilated from the planet is beyond me

10. Gay republican
I have an acquaintance who is a lesbian and a republican.

She is a special ed teacher.

She supports the republicans because she LOVES guns.

There is no talking to her about any other issue. Its all about the guns for her.

13. And the solution to that problem is easy...
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 11:30 AM by benEzra
get the national party to stop trying to ban people's guns, so she can base her decision on the repubs' stance on OTHER issues...

Dems and the Gun Issue - Now What?

There is some encouraging movement in that direction going on...which is very heartening to me as a gun-owning center-left independent...
