WHY IS THERE NO FOLLOW UP BY ANY REPORTERS? So what if no crime was actually committed... were the two truckers fired by their company? Was the company actually Bechtel or a company hired by Bechtel and were any of these companies asked to comment? This is a big story... that is being ignored. This is disgraceful.

4. The fact that these "questionable" truckers have/have had routine access
to our nuclear plants.....well you'd think there would be some type of follow up. Who else is entering and leaving our nuclear plants? Who overseas their credentials. This whole thing stinks.

15. It wasnt routine...they were working for a subcontractor...
They probably only had access to certain parts - where they were working...when the job was over...so is their access...

8. One thing load and clear is that ALL authorities are protecting the owner
of the truck.

One call to him and the truckers are let go.

We know the names of the truckers: Donald R. Kingsby and William Lewis

We know who the truck owner is working for: Bechtel Corp.

But we don't have the name of the truck owner.

9. the blog RIGOROUS INSTITUTION reflects thoughtfully on the story.....

"....So what is going on here? Because something just had its cover blown.

Could the intention have been to purchase nuclear material, perhaps for a dirty bomb to trigger the Iran war and make a US nuclear assault less objectionable? Could be, but I'd also say this scene appears too sloppy for such a task, and Bechtel wouldn't risk showing its hand so close to such action.

It strikes me, rather, as aspects of a covert drug routine so familiar that the players got lazy. Caught out, all they have to do is forfeit the money back to the government from which it probably came. In this old racket, Bechtel risks nothing."

22. How the gubmint might spin it--just a theory
They'll claim this was one a-them there "sting operations" and they were trying to bag some guy inside the plant, using handy-dandy non-sequential money that they had confiscated from a drug bust, and doggone it, those security guards and police ruined it for them!!! Those "truckers" were gubmint operatives, and BECHTEL was acting as a front company for the gubmint, doggone it!!!

34. You'd think they'd have planned properly, and had "their guy" on
the gate, so that "their guys" in the truck could meet with "Mista Terrist" in the plant without any difficulty!!! That's how they play it with those mafia stings--hell, they even buy out businesses and set up their own guys to do surveillance!

Incompetence, thy name is BushCo!

14. Still favoring drug dealings...
Not because of the "tainted money" - all money has traces of drugs on it...

This is how pot dealers operate...

Front a lot of pot...pay up in a few months. Often using shills as courriers...knowing or unknowing.

Drugs and cash are almost NEVER in the same place...truckers have a long history of running drugs.

The stories seem to indicate that the company was sub-contracted by a contruction company, hired by Bechtel...keep in mind they might be owner-operators.

The truckers worked for a company hired by San Francisco-based Bechtel Corp., which is performing construction work and replacing equipment at the plant...

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06110/683609-57.stm

Give it time guys...its only been like 48 hours...

The only strike against the drug theory is the direction of travel...you'd think they would pick up canadian bud in Chicago and take it to Texas...and it would seem unlikely that they are running Mexican herb up to Chicago (but maybe...)- which you would think would be plush with B'sters - given it's proximity to Canada...

16. Terrorists? Here's the thing. If these were actual terrorists,
I think the government would want it covered up in a heartbeat. They enjoy scaring the shit out of people, sure. But they also enjoy telling us what a good job they've been doing keeping us nice and safe.

If they discovered that a terrorist group had infiltrated the system, they'd hush it up quicker than snot! IF they were terrorists.

29. Promotion of nuclear power
The new energy policy calls for major expansion of nuclear power generation. This kind of story tends to increase the "NIMBY" factor when a new project is proposed.

In fact, this kind of story might even bring out "BANANA"-- "Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything."

17. Bechtel Connection.........
Something smells with this story. I'm glad to read here that this story was forwarded on to Keith O. Have there been any updates in the local papers or new about this or has it dropped from existence.

I keep coming back to the following:

Can you imagine if you were stopped by the TSA at an airport with a bag of $50,000 in small bills let alone $500,000 in small bills outside of a power station.

Plenty of red flags to go around on this one:

Seems nobody wants to claim the money?
Where did these truckers pick it up?
From whom?
What were their instructions for delivering it?
Stolen ID's?

And the biggest red flag - Bechtel Corp involvement?

Here's some background on Bechtel from Wikepedia:

Bechtel Corporation (Bechtel Group) is the largest civil engineering company in the world. With headquarters in San Francisco, Bechtel ranks as the 6th-largest privately-owned company in the United States. As of 2002, Bechtel had 47,000 employees working on 900 projects with $11.6 billion in revenue.

Bechtel participated in the building of the Hoover Dam in the 1930s. It has also had involvement in several other high profile construction engineering projects, including the Channel Tunnel, numerous power projects, including pipelines, refineries, and nuclear power plants, the BART, Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong International Airport, the Big Dig, and (from 2003) the rebuilding of the civil infrastructure of Iraq funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Bechtel family has owned Bechtel since setting up the company in the 1920s. Bechtel's size, its political clout, and its penchant for privacy have made it a perennial target for journalists and politicians since the 1930s. Bechtel has maintained strong relationships with officials in many United States administrations, including those of Nixon, Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush. The company also has strong ties to other governments, particularly the Saudi Royal Family.

Recently, the company has come under criticism for alleged mismanagement of the Big Dig project, its financial links to the bin Laden family, and the manner in which it received Iraqi rebuilding contracts after the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. Politicians in the United States and in Europe have made accusations of cronyism between the George W. Bush administration and Bechtel.

Some key words jump out at me:

- strong relationships with officials in many United States administrations including NIXON, REAGAN, GEORGE H.W.BUSH AND GEORGE W. BUSH.

- the company also has strong ties to other governments, particulary the SAUDI ROYAL FAMILY

- financial links to the BIN LADEN FAMILY

- received rebuilding contracts after the U.S. INVASION OF IRAQ IN 2003

- politicians in the U.S and in Europe have made accusations of CRONYISM between GEORGE W. BUSH administration and BECHTEL.

Is somebody going to CONNECT THE DOTS with this one? I sure do hope so.

20. Connect these dots...
Bechtel owns the powerplant...call them "company A"

They hire "Company B" to fix the plant...

Company B hires "Company C" to drive the trucks...

So claiming Bechtel has anything to do with this is a big reach...

I haven't seen any mention of the authorities looking into exactly what the truckers were to pick up at the power plant. Why wouldn't they investigate that as well? (unless maybe they have and it's kept hush-hush)

I've been doing much the same. We've got to be the media when the media is not doing its job.

Everyone who hears about this story freaks out. It's not because it's uninteresting that it's not in the news.

And as long as the bag of money sits there unclaimed, it is a fresh news item.

33. I questioned the origins
But didn't get a response but felt it might be worth looking into.
The Port of Houston and the Port of Philadelphia were part of the Dubai port deal.
The trip originated in Houston and ended in Pennsylvania.
Makes you wonder if they were transporting something off of a ship from one location to another?
