1. Is it possible or feasible for you to take a Greyhound bus? |
|
It might be cheaper if there's a vehicle for you to use while you're in Ohio.

5. I will need the car in Ohio |
|
We have an old Honda CRX that gets about 40mpg, but it's OLD and it's just a two seater, I need to be able to transport mom and dad around...
Maybe I'll call the CEO of EXXON or 'The Decider' and see if they'll give me a discount!!!! Jeebus, this is INSANE!!!

2. do they offer "compassion" flights? |
|
When my father was dying, I was able to get a discount to fly to where he was at. It saved me quite a bit. I don't know if they still offer this or not. You needed to have the name of the treating physician, I remember that much.
 I hope your mother gets better and that YOU hold up ok!!

Just got off the phone with mom, she's getting very depressed. My dad wandered off today, and she's worried I won't keep an eye on him. Her cancer is Stage3 and the doctor took off on vacation!!!! My head is spinning.

I wish there was more I could do than just give you those words. They are so inadequate but I hope you realize that there are a lot of us who feel your pain and hope for a good outcome for all of you.

$2.99-9/10 for the mid-grade today at my station. It's amazing how you can spend $40 in less that three minutes, for a Toyota Camry at that.
I'll bet prostitutes probably charge less and give you more than three minutes when they're screwing you.

15. I hear you. I feel really bad for people on a fixed income |
|
and having to deal with that "high gas prices are great" mentality is adding insult to injury.
All those DUers cheering about higher gas prices should chip in and donate some money to Rick Myers.

I just drove from near Raleigh NC to near Erie PA and back again and it was brutal. I paid between 2.70 and 2.95 for gas. I am not impressed at all.

13. Another suggestion: take a bus there and rent a car for a couple of days |
|
It may or may not be worth it.
In other countries I would merely hitch hike, but the USA is too dangerous for that. You could try to work out something with a truck driver.

25. You are correct, but there is no 'green' solution to |
|
my particular problem. If I were to fly and rent, I would not be able to take some 'stuff' I'll need for a possibly prolonged stay. Computer, support materials for my business needs, clothes and even a bike. While my car (a big block V-6) is pretty good on gas cruising at speed, hitting the pedal hard BLOWS THRU GAS. Believe it or not, I can get 26 to 28 mpg on the open road, but Chicago and other cities really take their toll. My old Acura finally blew up, and I mistakenly bought a V-6 for the power.
