China heckler at White House charged
Reuters

WASHINGTON - A heckler from the Falun Gong spiritual movement who disrupted a White House appearance by Chinese President Hu Jintao was charged in federal court on Friday with harassing, intimidating or threatening a foreign official.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Washington said the misdemeanor charge carries a penalty of up to six months in jail.

The woman, who entered the White House grounds as a reporter, interrupted a formal arrival ceremony between Hu and President George W. Bush on Thursday and shouted: "President Hu, your days are numbered. President Bush, make him stop persecuting Falun Gong."

The embarrassing episode marred the South Lawn event and created a diplomatic stir. Bush personally apologized to Hu for the incident.

U.S. officials identified the woman as Wang Wenyi, 47, a reporter with The Epoch Times, an English-language publication strongly supportive of the meditation movement that is banned in China.

12. notice how you ate that frame
How do you know she is a falung gong protestor?
They labelled her, and it stuck. Maybe she was a
citizen telling her evil king his days were numbered.

The attempt to make her look controlled by a cult,
seeks to undermine the sheer honesty of her very brave act.

Oh sacred speaker,
for the millions dead and trample,
evil men will get weaker,
and she alive in song, what an example.

Great justice of wealth,
transcend your sheath of men and women,
guardian hidden in the stealth,
protect your child, the branded labelled woman.

And you walked down a street,
saw a woman with a sewn-on patch and judged her,
that you repeated it unconsidered,
that maybe she had free will.

... to be profound.

13. Huh?
Did you read the article? Weren't those her words?

Please elaborate how I attempted to "make her look controlled by a cult". I'd really like to know.

14. She spoke for her family
it is a religious family, and it is no different than
you speaking for your family, like "no war in his name,
praise jesus christ" and unfurling a cross.
Then the person would not be called a christian,
but a religious citizen.

They are using the religious group, the way they wrote the
articles, without interviewing her, or doing any depth of
field reporting on a living person and why she would
yell a curse at a leader of a billion people, many of
whom are cursed to some evil shit.

I'm saying that they've spun the falung gong thing to
make people look like idiots deliberately, as it allows
them to take away from the seriousness and power of this woman's act.

In china, if there is no religion, then the citizen who does
such justice must be a guardian of the revolution, a real
maoist, and no wonder they're afraid of her. :-)

15. "President Bush, make him stop persecuting Falun Gong."
Maybe the quote isn't accurate, but if it is she's speaking for Falun Gong, not her family.

IMO you're reading too much into this--that it makes her "look like an idiot" to identify her religion, especially since she identified herself.

It doesn't make her any less brave.

4. That actually is a moderate response.
No matter what the cause, you just can't do what she did without committing a crime and expecting to be arrested.

That said, I wish more people would commit such crimes.

5. What is happening to this country....
it seems like we can be put in jail for just about anything now. The woman didn't threaten anyone, she was just speaking out about her cause.

10. Yes and it will take 'we the people' to change it. We must all...
work together to make the changes or this country is doomed.

6. What did the woman say? I know she spoke in Chinese.

Her voice sounded very odd and high pitched and screechy. I coudn't tell if she was freaking out or just very nervous and upset. Poor woman. She was really brave.

11. I just viewed the demonstration from cspan archives
It was pretty wild. What a brave woman to do that and she was very loud. She was screaming at the top of her lungs and it lasted a good three or four minutes before they carried her off. When she first started, Bush* had a :wtf: look on his face. It was really funny watching his expression. The chinese guy was mostly stone-faced still talking and trying to ignore the woman.

I hope she doesn't do any jail time.
