Why is there NO ethnic/gender diversity in this hearing?
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 03:37 PM by shance
Why is it almost all white males, and wealthy white males that know little if anything but their white, wealthy world?

BTW, Im white as well.

I just can't help seeing the distortion of this picture has something to do with the direction this country is going.

That's the Neocon way.

Lie, lie, lie and cheat and then throw a few more lies in so we can have everything, and in this Administrations case, hurt everything.

What is wrong with this picture?

2. Because there's almost no ethnic diversity in the Senate.
There are 10 Senators.
ONE is African American.
TWO are Latino.
ONE is Asian American. (4% minority.)
FOURTEEN are women (14%). All of the women are white.

There are 14 members of the Judiciary Committee.
One is a woman (7%). All are white.

3. This is the Judicial Committee.
I can't recall how many minority Senators there are, but none were selected for this committee. I think this is one of the "preferred" committees, just like the appropriations committee, and I think you have to have served in the Senate quite a few years to be selected for this one.

7. Do you not get it?
Do you not SEE IT Nap?

Wake up and open your eyes to unfairness. To the blatant imbalance, and white male wealthy privelege in front of your eyes.

5. And, I wonder how much
gerrymandering has to do with that lack of diversity. Supposedly these pols are our voices but I can't say I feel they represent me adequately.

8. Anyone who is not in their immediate circle is disenfranchised.
Or stands to be at some point.

9. gerrymandering doesn't impact the Senate
Statewide voting. It undoubtedly has an impact on House races (at least in terms of racial diversity).

10. Slapping myself upside the head,
thanks for correcting me! I always, always get that confused...probably because gerrymandering pisses me off so much!

game and they have given her a seat because she is politely muzzled enough.

I appreciate some of her efforts but bottom lined she tends to play it safe.

I believe we need others who represent America and not the country clubs.
