Sweeney expressed the necessity of acting now to change the course of jobs and the economy and not waiting until the election.

Admiral Frank Bowman is chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute and he brought good news for the building trade workers concerning the future of the nuclear industry. He read a letter from the NEI’s board of directors:
: We support prevailing wages for this skilled workforce and therefore agree with including prevailing wage provisions for new nuclear projects.
Presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were also part of a long list of mostly democratic legislators who spoke at the event which also celebrated the 100th anniversary of the department.
