MORRISVILLE, Vt.—Copley Hospital in Morrisville and a union that represents its 84 nurses have reached agreement on a new three-year contract.

The contract, ratified Thursday by the United Nurses and Allied Professionals Local 5109, calls for cost-of-living wage increases, improved professional development opportunities and tight restrictions on mandatory overtime.

Rick Watters, senior vice president of patient services, says nurses play a big role in helping the hospital deliver quality patient care, and that the contract acknowledges their excellent work.

In 1998, nurses at Copley went on strike for a month over new staffing rules.
