Seattlepi.com intern Brandon Eng went to John Edwards' appearance before a labor audience Tuesday and filed this report:

Former Sen. John Edwards instantly called the attention of a hall stuffed full of union members. As part of the AFL-CIO's "Working Families Vote 2008" campaign, the Democratic presidential hopeful came to Seattle Tuesday on the historic day for the labor movement.
Deemed International Worker's Day by some, May 1st is the culmination of the Haymarket Riots in 1886 and in recent memory has been characterized by the tremendous marches of last year's immigrant's rights movement.
Looking out over a predominantly white crowd at noon May 1st, Edwards recalled one more piece of history. Four years ago today, President Bush announced the end of major combat operations in Iraq and the banner behind him infamously declared "Mission Accomplished."
"Congress has been given a mission," said Edwards, "that mission is ending the war in Iraq."
Edwards said that Congress should send Bush the budget with proposals for withdrawal repeatedly until Bush accepted it. This way, Bush would be the one not funding the troops, said Edwards.
UPDATE
Washington state Republican Party Chairman Luke Esser said in a statement:
"I'm not surprised that John Edwards is playing politics with the war. Last week Edwards admitted that he doesn't believe the War on Terror even exists. John Edwards' views are simply dangerous."
At the union rally, Edwards expressed his pride to be with his brothers and sisters in organized labor.
