http://www.laborradio.org/node/9026Lede: In solidarity with a hotel-restaurant union’s struggle against food concessionaire Aramark, there will be no food services offered at the National Association of Letter Carriers convention in Boston. Doug Cunningham has the story. By Doug Cunningham Bill Young, president of the letter carriers, canceled the food service over the contract dispute between UNITE-HERE and Aramark. Since Aramark would have been the food provider at the letter carrier’s convention, the union instead is canceling that food service. UNITE-HERE wants a fair contract for its members from Aramark, with health care one of the top unresolved issues. The National Association of Letter Carriers says there’s no way it’s doing business with Aramark until UNITE-HERE has a contract. The hotel union and the letter carriers are in different labor federations, but are in solidarity on this issue. The letter carriers say they are 100 percent behind UNITE-HERE Local 26 because they’re fighting the same battle letter carriers have bee fighting for years – to win decent contracts with fair pay and health care for their families. The letter carriers convention runs July 21-25th in Boston
