SPRINGBORO -- A Michigan company faces more than $8,000 in fines for violations that federal inspectors said they found at a local tool shop where a Conneautville man was killed in late May.

Eagle Tool Group, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., has until Aug. 22 to remedy 14 violations that federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials said they found at a company facility at 25035 N. Center Road in Springboro during two inspections this spring.

Michael E. Robinson, 35, was killed in the facility when a grinding wheel that he was working on exploded on the morning of May 27, according to the Crawford County Coroner's Office.

The location is also home to Erie Tool & Forge, but that company was not part of the investigation following the death of Robinson, who worked for Eagle Tool, said Barry Burbage of OSHA's Erie office.

Officials at Erie Tool & Forge declined comment Monday.

Representatives of Eagle Tool Group could not be reached for comment Monday.

OSHA officials investigated the shop on the day of Robinson's death, and did a follow-up investigation on June 5.
