Harvard Students End Hunger Strike Over Guards' Wages

Harvard students ended a nine-day hunger strike on behalf of campus guards this afternoon, The Harvard Crimson reported. The students had been seeking to pressure AlliedBarton, the security company to which the university outsources the work, to pay its guards higher wages and give them better benefits. The hunger strike sent a student to the hospital on Tuesday. The strikers ended their protest after Harvard announced it would audit the company’s compliance with the university’s wage policies, and after the guards asked the students to resume eating. —Andrew Mytelka
