National Air Traffic Controllers Association says your vote is important

We are just days away from the most important election in NATCA's history, so please take the time to vote! This election is about our pay, benefits, working conditions, collective-bargaining rights, and the future of the air traffic control system that we so proudly serve. House of Representatives bills HR2881, HR2443 and HR6355, and Senate bills S1300 and S3416, all legislation vital to NATCA and its members, were introduced in the 110th Congress. HR2881 (FAA Reauthorization) had strong bipartisan support both in committee and when it passed on the floor in the House of Representatives. S1300 (Senate companion bill to HR2881), like many pieces of legislation in the Senate, was subjected to partisan bickering and did not receive the 60 votes needed on the Senate floor for cloture. That means that debate did not end and it never was able to receive an up or down vote on its merits. NATCA has built a tremendous amount of support in both chambers of Congress and on both sides of the political aisle. However, we feel that the opposition from the White House and some Senators continues to prevent NATCA from seeing positive legislation signed into law. We need a President that will give our issues a fair shot and work with us to repair the current breakdown in collective bargaining at the FAA. We must use our voting power to work towards a fillibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a friend in the White House. We will continue to work with both parties to seek friends and allies, regardless of the party in power.
