About 130 laid off at Lindsay plant

About 130 workers at the Lindsay Manufacturing plant in Lindsay were laid off last week.

"People are not too happy, but we're all hoping it's temporary," said Nancy Albracht, whose husband, David, is the village board chairman.

Lindsay Manufacturing is a leading provider of irrigation systems and infrastructure products with one of its key manufacturing plants in Lindsay. The company headquarters were in Lindsay before being moved to Omaha several years ago.

Albracht said she didn't know what the total workforce at the plant was in light of the layoffs.

Economic conditions were cited as the reason for the move.

When contacted Friday afternoon, a corporate official in Omaha declined to comment. - The Norfolk Daily News
