East Syracuse, New York (WSYR-TV) - If the Wal-Mart in East Syracuse was on your list of stores to hit up on Black Friday, you likely saw something rather unusual.
Local carpenters and contractors gathered to spread a message on Black Friday; they say Walmart is outsourcing its projects to out-of-state workers, and they hope the chain will consider going with local workers instead.
“They should hire local contractors to do local projects,” says Mike Zavaro, a member of Carpenters Local 747. “It's something that needs to be applied in Onondaga County and across the state.”
Union members were also at other Walmarts throughout Onondaga County, including Clay, Camillus, and North Syracuse.
