Teamsters picket over lockout
Picketers target several locations
WJRT By Dawn Jones

MOUNT MORRIS TOWNSHIP (WJRT) - (06/04/07)-- More than a dozen workers are picketing a Mount Morris Township business.
The action began this morning at Central Concrete Products when workers were locked-out by their employer.

A contract dispute is driving the picket. Truck drivers are picketing the company and several work sites throughout out the county.

A spokesman for Teamsters Union Local 332 says management at Central Concrete Products locked workers out after they turned down the company's latest contract offer, which includes wage, benefit and pension cuts.

About 18 truck drivers are affected.

The company's owner says he is ready to meet, but says the union has refused to meet.

VIDEO & FULL story at link.

2. My family has been union for
as long as I can remember. First my Dad then my husband. Some don't understand just what a union fight is about. The unions stand for higher wages, benefits and better working conditions that if the conservatives had their way would be a thing of the past. Every time I see some union bashing Conservative who recently graduated college brag about their wages without unions I want to respond to them that without the past 30 years or so of union activity they would not be making near what they brag about. If Bush has his way we will be paid like cheap Chinese labor with no benefits and long working hours.
