Day Of Action Supporting UAW Conn-Selmer Strike Set For June 17th
By Doug Cunningham

UAW Local 364 in Elkhart, Indiana has been on strike against Conn-Selmer-Steinway since April of last year. Two hundred thirty families have been thrown out of work - their livelihoods, homes and health threatened by union-busting tactics at the musical brass instruments factory. An International Day of Action in support of the UAW 364 strikers is set for June 17th. Under the leadership of Dana Massina, Steinway and Conn-Selmer are refusing to bargain in good faith. Scabs have been brought in to replace the strikers and instruments are also being made in China where the labor is cheap and union rights as U.S. workers know them are non-existent. Events are scheduled June 17 in New York City, San Francisco and Chicago in support of the strikers. More information about the strike is available onm the web at www.connselmerstrike.com

1. OMG!! Selmer outsourcing to China ?!?

Have these morons ruined the company yet? Selmer is legendary among sax players. It would be heartbreaking to see a fine old musical tradition go over to The Dark Side.

ON EDIT: Maybe too late. All the independent instrument makers I remember from my youth have been bought out by one company. Globalization can't touch anything without cheapening or destroying it.
