Machinists Union returning to work following brief strike

SPOKANE -- After heading to the picket lines early last Friday morning employees at Triumph Composite Systems have agreed to a new contract and are returning to work Tuesday morning.

Union members voted Monday night to end the strike that began last Friday. With 68-percent approving the new contract the machinists are returning to work at the Airway Heights plant that builds parts for Boeing and Airbus aircraft.


Members of the Machinists Union vote as to whether or not to accept a contract offer from Triumph Composite Systems on June 4, 2007.

Triumph bought the plant from Boeing more than four years ago and at that time the workers were forced to take a 15% pay cut in order to keep their jobs. Workers who had been laid off when the plant was owned by Boeing returned to even deeper salary cuts.
