Teamsters Golf Tournament Raises $150,000 for Variety - The Children's Charity

TORONTO, June 18 /CNW/ - The Ontario Teamsters Annual Invitational Golf
Tournament for Variety - The Children's Charity, taking place on June 11 and
12, was a huge success. After a wonderful day on the golf course, a beaming
Larry McDonald, President of Teamsters Joint Council 52, presented a cheque of
$150,000 to Lynne Wallace, President and CEO of Variety - The Children's
Charity.

"We're very grateful to the Ontario Teamsters, employers and friends for
another great tournament," said Ms. Wallace. "In two years, they've raised an
incredible $280,000, making the tournament our largest third-party event. Part
of the funds raised will go to support our new 'Variety on the Road'
initiative. Starting in the fall of 2007, we're now able to run integrated
physical activity programs in Brampton, Oshawa and Mississauga."
The two-day event started on Monday evening with the Player Mix and
Mingle and an elimination raffle. On Tuesday, the Co-Chairs of the tournament
committee Larry McDonald and Gary King, President and CEO of TST Solutions
L.P., and Variety Village Ambassador Matt Hoffman conducted the official
tee-off. Also on hand were the Argo Cheerleaders who participated in the
tournament by encouraging the golfers to purchase tickets and take a chance at
the Putting, Closest to the Green and Longest Drive contests.

Variety - The Children's Charity works with young people with physical
disabilities and those who face developmental barriers to achieve their life
potential. The charity is a world recognized authority in providing integrated
sports and life skills programs, applied research and learning programs that
change children's lives and strengthen communities.
