Economic Report: Are Workers Who Do Leisure Web Browsing At Work More Productive?

http://www.laborradio.org/node/11825

Economic Report:

A study released earlier this year discovered that 70 percent of workers who use the leisure Internet browsing while at work are nine percent more productive than workers who say they don’t. According to Dr. Brent Coker employees who engage in what he calls “Workplace Internet Leisure Browsing” have increased concentration after taking such a break. He said “short and unobtrusive breaks…enable the mind to rest itself.”

1. yes.
if you're doing your job, your employer shouldn't give a shit if you read some DU / news in your spare time. if you're not doing your job, do your fucking job.

2. I can testify to this. At work I do that frequently in little 90 second bursts. If I
looked at my spreadsheets all day long eventually I would lose focus and start becoming useless.
