SOUTH HADLEY - The Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission has postponed to July 26 a hearing on a unionizing effort by municipal employees that had been set for last Monday, according to union organizers.

Karen T. Renaud, the union organizer for Council 93 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, said that the hearing, to determine who is eligible for union membership, was delayed because of vacations.

Forty-five of 61 nonunion town employees have signed cards seeking to have the union represent them.

Youth Services Librarian Marguerite A. Clancy, one of the people on the pro-union organizing committee, said the town has added more employees to the list of positions it wants excluded from union representation.

Clancy said she did not have an exact number, but that five of the 10 library employees who want to join a collective bargaining unit have been challenged.
