22 September 2009

MINNEAPOLIS - “The crisis in health care: What’s at stake for working women?” will be the topic of a union women’s luncheon Monday, Oct. 12, sponsored by the University of Minnesota Labor Education Service.
The luncheon and program will run from noon to 2 p.m. at the Operating Engineers Local 49 hall, 2829 Anthony Lane S., Minneapolis. Cost is $35, including buffet lunch, program and materials.

Featured speakers will be singer and activist Anne Feeney and health care advocate Connie Perpich. A rabblerouser who has walked many a union picketline, Feeney has been touring the country singing out for national health care. She will share stories of the people she has met and perform several songs.

In her role as senior director of legislative affairs at Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Perpich has spent years advocating on women’s health issues at the Capitol and across the state. She will provide an overview of the disparities experienced by women under the current system and the need for reform.
