Truckers strike over pay cuts
PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - A group of 40 truckers out of Port Allen went on strike Monday morning after learning of a recent pay cut that went into effect. They will make $15 less each way, which adds up once maintenance costs are considered.

The cuts were set to take place on Mon., Nov. 30. The truckers say about $200 typically comes out of each paycheck for maintenance, like oil changes and tire changes. That's about five percent of their checks. Drivers said they were making $107 per load each way and getting a fuel surcharge. They say if they incur these cuts, they just won't be able to afford it.

"It's a slap in the face," said Clifford Johnson. "It's going to affect us tremendously."
