New Year Will Bring New Senate Jobs Bill

In the New Year the U.S. Senate is expected to take up a jobs creation bill. The House has already passed a $174 billion jobs creation package. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois.

: “We’re working trying to coordinate this with House Democrats so that we have a common list of goals. Trying to make it manageable in terms of size because there are a lot of ideas out there. Most importabtl we want something that will have an iimpact on the economy and create jobs as quickly as possible.”

Will this be similar to the economic stimulus?

: “It could be jobs like those in the stimulus. There are parts of the stimulus that we can revitalize or continue. But there are some brand new ideas, too, that I think have some promise.”

1. Yeah, and the way things are going in the Senate...

It will be a jobs bill designed by Lieberman, Nelson, Landrieu, Bayh, Baucus, and Lincoln that allows companies to insist their employees work 60 hour work weeks for half their current pay.

And then we'll all be asked to get behind this so that we don't anger any of these senators and cause them to have hurt feelings that would make them not vote with us on other bills, and then we'll have hail it as an historic economic victory.

And then we'll sit back and watch the DNC, Reid, Obama, and any number of other Democratic leaders throw money at and campaign for the re-election of these same people while primary challengers and discouraged and thwarted at every turn. While at the same time getting fundraising letters telling us how important it is to keep this Democratic majority.
