The Cleveland Orchestra is going out on strike.
They are one of the top orchestras in the United States. I heard them play once in Houston with Lorin Maazel conducting. They were fabulous.

1. Cleveland Orchestra Agrees On Contract
POSTED: 6:00 pm EST January 19, 2010

CLEVELAND -- A tentative agreement was reached for Cleveland Orchestra musicians on Tuesday.

Musicians ratified the agreement Tuesday afternoon at Severence Hall.

Orchestra executive director Gary Hanson and Musician’s committee chairman Jeffery Rathbun said it was good to have a new deal.

“I’m delighted that we have reached an agreement. As many of you know, it was a long night of discussion,” Hanson said.

“We are thankful that our new agreement does not further erode our standing among our peer orchestras. We still have a lot of work to do,” Rathbun said.

The new Cleveland Orchestra contract calls for a two-year wage freeze through August 2011. After that, there are semi-annual increases for the musicians of 3 and 2 percent the following year.

Both sides said they were pleased the strike did not last longer than a day and a half.

2. They misspelled "Severance," but anyway, whew.
Bullet dodged. That's all we'd need, another good thing about Cleveland shut down.

3. No doubt.
Seems we're running out of good things here.
