Unlike their Antioch counterparts, Sutter Solano Medical Center's registered nurses are not ready to talk strike yet, a nurses union official said Friday.

The Sutter Solano nurses' current contract expired this week, and negotiations are under way for a new one, said California Nurses Association spokeswoman Liz Jacobs.

Registered nurses at Antioch's Sutter Delta Medical Center voted this week to authorize a strike if an agreement can't be reached with Sutter Health, she said. Though the issues under discussion are the same, Sutter Solano nurses are some distance from any talk of striking, though the possibility exists, Jacobs said.

Sutter Solano human resources director Jean Willhite said she isn't worried.

"We've been meeting with CNA regularly and have three more bargaining dates set up, and we're confident we'll be able to reach an agreement," Willhite said.
