American Airlines is moving closer to a possible strike. Jesse Russell reports.

Running out of negotiation tactics the Association of Professional Flight Attendants formerly requested on Tuesday that the National Mediation Board release them from mediation so a 30-day cooling off period can begin. At the end of the flight attendants could walk off the job leaving American Airlines grounded. The next step involves the board bringing the request to end mediation to American for comments and in the next few days returning to the flight attendants with a decision. If they decided mediation can end the strike clock starts ticking.

APFA President Laura Glading said she hopes the company won’t let it reach that point.

: Once the NMB makes their choice I believe it is in the company’s hands. If the company6 is going to force a strike and cause the company that much harm than I understand them less than I do today which is hard to believe.

Rob Clayman is legal counsel for the union and has been sitting in on the negotiations. He said he is concerned that American Airlines representatives at the bargaining table are “putting American on a dangerous path.”

1. Airlines screw their employees at the same time they are screwing the passengers.

2. Your statement is oh, so true.
But they make sure the upper management keeps getting their big bonuses every April and to hell with the worker bees who had to take massive concessions in 2003.
