Union Workers Reject Jeffboat Contract

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Jeffboat union workers have rejected a contract offer by an overwhelming margin and will continue to strike.

Members of Teamsters Local 89 went on strike late Thursday and said they'll stay at it until Jeffboat negotiates a fair contract.

"They don't care about your family. They don't care about anybody. It's all about money now," union member Jim Riley said.

Officials said 99 percent of the employees who voted on Sunday gave the new contract a thumbs down.

"We want a good, decent contract for our families, because I want to go back to work, but hey, I'm not gonna go for nothing," union member Louis Thomas said.

Union leaders said the company's offer is unacceptable and they're trying to maintain a standard of living they're entitled to.
