Hotel workers in San Francisco are walking picket lines after nearly seven months without a new contract. Jesse Russell reports:

For the second day hotel workers at San Francisco’s largest hotel are walking the picket lines. It is part of a three day strike to bring attention to the fact that 8,000 hotel workers at 31 hotels in the city have been without new contracts since August of 2009. The hotel group has asked for the workers to handle higher contributions to health care and the union says the hotels are taking advantage of the recession to place a heavier burden on workers. In addition to this three-day strike at the San Francisco Hilton the workers have held limited actions at four other hotels since November and they are also asking labor friendly organizations and customers to boycott the hotels where workers are without a new contract. Some eight hundred fifty workers are on strike outside of the hotel. The strike is scheduled to end on Saturday morning.
