Edwin A. Henriquez, 38, slipped while working on the roof, said Police Officer Roger Philbeck.
According to scanner traffic, paramedics on the scene advised dispatchers to put St. Francis Medical Center personnel on alert that the case was a “full trauma” because a 1½-inch wide pipe had impaled the man from the pelvic area to the upper abdomen.
The accident was reported at 8:45 a.m. Monday.

The house was being re-roofed by A2Z Roofing. Three of the company’s employees were at the house about 20 minutes after the accident.
A man who identified himself as the supervisor but didn’t give his name said the roofers had removed the shingles and plywood from part of the roof, which was leaking.
