Authorities are investigating the alleged theft of more than $6,000 in union dues paid by security guards at the Douglas County Health Center.
William Rinn, a Douglas County sheriff's investigator, seized a security office file cabinet April 30 from the multistory brick building on Woolworth Avenue.
Items taken by law enforcement officers included financial, charter and membership documents about Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 52, which has represented a small number of security guards at the health center.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Marty Bilek said Friday investigators still need to obtain several financial records as part of the probe. No arrests have been made.
According to a search warrant:
Security guard John W. Jones contacted the Sheriff's Office April 29 to report the theft allegations.
Jones said he has been a full-time guard since 2008.
