The International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600, is the largest camera union in the world. Local 600 represents Directors of Photography, Camera Operators, Optical Operators, Camera Assistants, Technocrane Operators, Camera Utility, Video Operators, Film Loaders, News Photojournalists, Still Photographers, Visual Effects Supervisor, Visual Effects Photographers, CGI Artists, Digital Compositors, Animation Operators, Video Controllers, Digital Imaging Technician, Digital Utility, Sports Photographers, Publicists, Kodak/Panavision Preview System Technicians in the motion picture and television, corporate communication and advertising industries all over the United States.

We are looking for a Business Representative/Union Organizer to work out of our Los Angeles office.

Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree, experience in grievance administration, contract negotiations and organizing are preferred. Working experience in the industry is a plus..

Skills:

* Must possess good interpersonal and group communication skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate to working with and communicating with a well-educated workforce and able to articulate the Union's message and vision to the membership.
* Ability to develop and implement long-term recruitment and organizing program to increase membership size and strength.
* Must be proficient with computers including the use of the following programs: Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
* Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
* Ability to listen and frame issues.
* Ability to think strategically and exercise a high level of judgment.
* Ability to assess information and evidence and deal with conflicting and changing priorities.
* Must be capable of developing and following a strategic plan.
* Ability to prioritize and carry out assigned duties with minimal supervision.
* Knowledge of political campaign strategies.
* Must work cooperatively with other ICG and IATSE employees and other IATSE Locals.
* Must be able to travel and work on campaigns away from home and office, including weekends.
* Personal traits should include: patience, persistence, flexibility, enthusiasm, tact and a sense of humor.
* Working automobile and auto insurance are required.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit. ICG staff is represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). Terms and conditions of employment are subject to negotiation with the OPEIU. Excellent starting salary, commensurate with experience includes a comprehensive benefit package.
