The nation’s largest student association representing 4.5 million students is working with the AFL-CIO to support the DREAM Act immigration reform legislation. United States Student Association President Gregory Cendana says allowing undocumented immigrant high school graduates to earn permanent residency status through higher education and or military service as the DREAM Act does is good for the nation. He says most of these students have never known another country.

: “It only makes sense for us to continue to invest n them for higher education, and with the understanding that they are going to be able to give back to our economy."

Cendana says students and workers in alliance on immigration reform can be a powerful force.

: “We're looking forward to working with them together to pass comprehensive immigration reform including the DREAM Act. And it shows the strong solidarity among a broad range of constitutients. There are a lot of
students in this country and there's a lot of workers in this country. And the fact that the oldest and largest student association and federation of labor unions are coming together for this issue is a really big deal."
