UAW, Teamsters, Longshoremen, Transportation Workers Unite In Global Protest Against UPS Firings

The United Auto Workers is joining with the Teamsters, Longshoremen and Transportation Workers Union today to protest United Parcel Service firing 157 workers in Turkey for pro-union activity. The UAW’s Mark Haasis.

: “They’ve also called out the police, who have assaulted some of the union workers and one of the UPS managers at one of their facilities actually fired a gun in the vicinity of some of the union workers.”

There are protests against UPS in 45 cities around the world today, including at least a dozen U.S. cities.

: “It’s part of a wider social vision that we have.”
