The International Longshore and Warehouse Union is out with a report on Rite-Aid drug stores criticizing what the union says is mismanagement under new owners. The report, "Navigating Rough Waters -- Can New Management Steer Rite Aid Back on Course?" is being distributed to stock analysts, financial advisors and industry trade reporters as Rite-Aid issues it’s quarterly financial report. The union says Rite Aid management is trying to solve its financial problems on the backs of its workers. Workers at Rite-Aid warehouse operations are struggling for union recognition, basic rights and a voice at work. Workers at a Lancaster, California Rite-Aid warehouse began a union organizing effort in 2006, won an NLRB election in 2008 and have been negotiating with management for a first contract ever since. The union says instead of bargaining in good faith to agree on a contract, Rite-Aid management has been engaged in a needless conflict with its workers.
