Congressman, Mayor Call On Comcast To Honor Workers’ Right To Join IBEW

http://www.laborradio.org/node/14213

By Doug Cunningham

The big national cable TV corporation Comcast is fighting efforts by its workers to form unions. Masachusetts congressman Stephen Lynch and Fall River, Masachusetts mayor William Flanagan reviewed union authorization cards signed by Comcast workers at the Fall River and Farihaven locatins and found an overwhelming majority want IBEW Local 2322 to represent them on the job. Congressman Lynch called on Comcast to honor the workers’ choice.

: “All that the Comcast workers are doing here today is asking their employer to talk to them. Very simple. You’re asking your employer to sit down and talk with you through your representatives – IBEW 2322 – over the conditions under which you will work, the wages and benefits that you might earn. And that’s something you have a right to.”
