150 Red Cross workers vote in Teamsters

American Red Cross workers in Charlotte have voted to join Teamsters Local 71. There are about 150 workers in the bargaining unit, the union says.

The employees are the first Red Cross workers in the Carolinas to vote for Teamster representation. Red Cross workers in Wilmington are slated to vote on representation soon.

Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents more than 1.4 million workers in the United States and Canada.

The American Red Cross was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton. The Washington, D.C.-based group specializes in emergency response and blood collection.

1. You know I am all the way Red Cross
but not particularly ARC... but some of the practices with full time employees are at times... shall we say... abusive. No it is not the ARC though.
