In New York City over the weekend more than 80 congregations throughout the city called for the city council to pass the Fair Wages For New Yorkers Act. Living Wage Weekend was part of a larger, sustained push to raise wages for working people in New York. Clergy sermonized on the morality of economic justice for working people as they urged passage of the measure. The Fair Wages Fr New Yorkers Act requires wages of at least $10 an hour, indexed to inflation. in large development projects that get public subsidies.
