Back pain and drugs, please accept my apology

I started to develop lower left back pain last Friday. By Sunday morning it was bad enough to miss work. I thought perhaps a kidney stone. A quick trip to minor medical and I learned it was my back. Drugs and pain. Saw my MD yesterday. It was to be a 2 week wait until I could get in to a specialist for a steroid shot. So I was feeling low and medicated last night when I posted about this forum. I was also in the first stages of an allergic reaction to Orphenadrine.

I saw a chiropractor today for the first time ever, and my back feels so much better in just one trip. I still itch from the allergic reaction.

Please disregard yesterday's post. Drugs, pain, etc. can tend to bring out a bad side in people.

OS

Good luck with whatever treatments you decide to pursue.

6. First, ice works better than heat
so keep ice on the epicenter for 20 minutes. That generally numbs it out for a good hour or two so you can function with or without the drugs.

Second, when chiropractic works, it can be pretty dramatic. Don't take it all that easy, although you don't want to overwork your back. Do the ordinary things around the house you usually do. Staying in bed makes it worse and prolongs the problem.

Third, try to get the specialist to send you to rehab. They'll teach you exercises there to strengthen all the muscles so this doesn't happen too often in the future and you can put surgery off, sometimes permanently.

Backs are buggers. When they go, you hurt all over.

8. All is forgiven. I had my first,and only,surgery 7 years ago I went
absolutely NUTS for about 24 hours. My MD said it was the anesthesia.

Medication can do awful,and wonderful,things.

Good luck with your back.

10. Steve, I may not always respond to your posts, but I read them.
I don't know what was said yesterday however as I was taken with Congressman Grayson. Regardless, you're a valuable DU-er and I'm glad you're feeling better today.
