New York City councilman Oliver Koppell says a $1 million study by the city's economic development corporation on a living wage proposal was done by people biased against the concept of a living wage.

: "Instead of going to a group of experts who are neutral and who would do a study without bias, we believe this study starts off with the conclusion already determined."

labor, clergy and community groups are fighting to pass a $10 per hour minimum wage for jobs created with the help of public subsidies in new York City.

1. A couple of years ago on labor day my newspaper's headline
Working people prefer working two jobs (to make ends meet)..

They had a right wing study, and interviewed two people that love both their jobs..

3. Wonderful. A $1,000,000 gift to right wing assholes to think
that poor people deserve to stay poor. :grr:

This is just what we need, to give a million dollars of public money to right wingers so that they can publish a study justifying their right wing bullshit.

I'm glad councilman Koppell caught them, and is calling them out on it. I hope they have to pay back at least some of that money. x(

4. Study done by evil expert types....

The evil expert has been a major problem all thru human history.

They greatly empower the evil leaders... Witness hitler and his Werner von Braun.

IMO, kindness is the supreme virtue.

BTW, beyond the living wage is a greater goal, one present in some areas of europe... The income floor.

It could lift all the elderly above poverty, as a start.

Did you see the stunning info earlier here on DU...

45 is retirement age in Turkey!
Forty five. Why do we labor an extra 20 years?

Also interesting... More strikes planned today in france.
