U of M students start hunger strike to support strikers
Eleven students at the University of Minnesota say they've gone on a hunger strike to support striking clerical, technical and health-care workers at the university.

The students are being joined by one professor and a university civil service employee. They say they will drink water and juice but not eat again until the university settles the contract dispute.

The U calls the hunger strike "unfortunate."

The workers, represented by AFSCME, went on strike September 5. Pay is the main sticking point.

1. what is a few staving people when the bottom line is at stake
now that protesters=terrorists, giving in to demands will not be in the works. The prez set that standard.
