American (Airlines) offers to tie pay to performance for union workers
FORT WORTH (AP) — American Airlines has offered to link pay raises for mechanics and other ground workers to the company's performance, and the union is studying the idea.

Neither side disclosed details of any proposals, but the Transport Workers Union published letters exchanged last month between its president and the airline's CEO on its website.

Union President James Little wrote that cooperation between the company and the union was eroding because workers had not been rewarded for the improvement in American's financial performance.

The union and the company are expected to soon begin talks aimed at a new contract by next April. But Little wrote that the company should consider immediate and "non-traditional" compensation to improve labor relations.

3. Exactly. As soon as they implement that, look for plummeting profits
as AA cooks the books in order to demand pay cuts. :eyes:
