GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Meijer and a union that represents thousands of the retailer's Michigan employees have reached a tentative labor contract.

The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 951 represents almost 9,400 full-time Meijer workers and another 17,200 part-time employees at 92 stores in the state.

The tentative agreement does not involve employees at the Grand Rapids-based company's stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky or Ohio.

The Grand Rapids Press says key points include modest wage increases and protected pension benefits.

Union members will vote within a week.

The contract would take effect this month and run through March 2012.
