Maryland forces Wal-Mart to spend more on healthcare
http://www.wlns.com/Global/story.asp?S=4358508&nav=0RbQ

Maryland lawmakers have voted to enact a first-of-its-kind measure requiring a single company, Wal-mart, to spend more on health care. Legislators who overturned a veto by Maryland's republican governor say the measure will help save money on the state's Medicaid spending.

The measure requires companies who employ more than 10,000 Maryland workers to spend at least 8% of their payroll on health care. A Wal-mart spokeswoman says the retailer was singled out and that the states Medicaid's problems go beyond the behavior of one company.
