Chrysler To Shut Down For Two Weeks In July
All Employees Affected By Closure
POSTED: 1:04 pm EDT March 13, 2008
UPDATED: 3:35 pm EDT March 13, 2008

Chrysler LLC is telling employees worldwide to take a mandatory two-week vacation in July.

Chrysler informed employees of the plan in an e-mail sent to employees that was obtained by The Associated Press. Chrysler spokeswoman Mary Beth Heilprin confirms the e-mail was sent.

Chrysler plans a corporate-wide shutdown the weeks of July 7 and July 14. Heilprin said some employees may be asked to stay on to work on special projects.

It's common for automakers to shut down plants in July, but this also would affect salaried workers.

1. Assuming, Ford Motor & Chrysler are not under bankruptcy protection before July.
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 10:34 PM by Broadslidin
With Cerberus declaring last November:
Chrysler is effectively bankrupt.

and

Ford Motor Co. & Ford Motor Credit carrying a
debt load of $155+ Billion.
Nothing left in North America that can used as a
loan collateral.
The European Volvo division has some value
but is also continuing to lose money.

Why in the world,
do these two corporations still have the lights on...?

And Grand 'ol G.M....
If the company had not sold a controlling interest in
G.M.A.C. to Cerberus,
this outfit would also be knocking at death's door.

2. Americans will not learn until the Big Three are gone and they
get corn cobbed by the Japanese and Germans on the price when AMERICAN competition goes away.

Stupid stupid stupid.
