Need opinions about working on Holiday....
A computer services company that monitors and handles servers for it's customers need technical engineers to be on call on Holidays and weekends. According to HR and information throughout the company, if an engineer takes call on a Holiday, they get a $100 bonus in addition to the normal weekend pay.

An engineer who worked on Easter Sunday put in for his bonus on his time sheet and was denied stating the company policy is to pay the bonus for a paid company holiday and since Easter is always on a Sunday and not a company paid holiday, they will not pay the $100 bonus.

My DH is a manager for this engineer and is really mad over this denial.

Your opinion?

1. If it's in writing or there's clear precedent, I'd say the company is within their rights.
It's a bonus. Unless other employees have been treated differently or the company is trying to retroactively change its own rules, they get to decide when that bonus is paid.

2. I know and understand the company is in their 'rights"
but I am sick and tired of corporations having more rights than the loyalty and labor of it's employees.

And this is a so-called Christian company where the owenrs wife had to be told to stop making references to whether or not my husband believed in Jesus!

3. Is there an employee manual?

Even in a non union shop, many state courts have found for employees where a manual exists. Easter probably is not listed as a holiday though.
